Umvoti AIDS Centre

We are a community-based (CBO), non-profit organisation (NPO). We provide home-based care services for sick people, stroke patients and the elderly, as well as support for their vulnerable family members. We bathe them, cook for them, clean their houses and ensure they adhere to their treatment regimens. We hand out food parcels once a month to orphans and child-headed homes. School children attend our centre after school to receive help with their homework, psycho-social support and a meal, we also do physical activities with them. We assist them with school uniforms and clothing. We run various income-generation projects that help families who earn less than R200 per month. We help people apply for social grants, identity documents and birth certificates. We run a monthly support group for TB and HIV-positive patients. We also provide HIV counselling and testing (HCT).We transport orphans and vulnerable children to the clinic and hospital where there is a need. We are open from 07:30 to 16:00, Monday to Friday. We serve the areas of Umzinyathi and Umshwathi. Our services are free of charge.
