The Helderberg Street People's Centre

We are a community-based (CBO), non-profit organisation (NPO). We work to assist the homeless with obtaining the correct documentation for their social grant applications and we also assist with helping people find gainful employment. We run programmes at various sites throughout the region. Many people that visit our Centre each day suffer from various illnesses including drug and alcohol dependency, HIV and AIDS, mental and emotional problems. We try to give needy people from 13 years of age an opportunity to improve their lives such as providing them with skills training and education sponsorship. We sponsor people attending day or evening classes to attend security or computer courses so that they can find employment. Boys are also taught to build Wendy houses. We run workshops on TB, HIV and AIDS awareness, drug and alcohol abuse. We are open from 08:30 to 13:30, Monday to Sunday. Our services are free of charge.
