KwaZulu-Natal Society for the Blind

We are a non-profit organisation (NPO). We are an active, multifaceted organisation which services the needs of visually handicapped children and adults. We provide residential care which comfortably accommodates 24 people and caters specifically for people with degrees of blindness. Every Tuesday an optometrist does eye tests, the patients are only charged for glasses. We run a day-care facility which provides a caring and nurturing environment for blind children. We charge school fees. We also run a support group every second Wednesday for people affected by and infected with HIV and blindness. Our gardening project is for income-generation and supplements our meals. A social worker is available to assist people with applications for identity documents, social grants and birth certificates before referring them to the relevant government departments. We serve the community of eThekwini and all surrounding municipalities. We are open from 08:00 to 16:00 from Monday to Friday. We charge a fee for some of our services.
